Hedgers on weatherXchange® may require specialist advice related to weather risk hedging. While weatherXchange staff are available to help with technical questions related to using the Platform, they are not able to provide investment advice. Hedgers can, however, request the assistance of Broker-Advisors. The financial basis for the provision of this advice is negotiated between the Hedger and Broker-Advisor directly. The names and contact details of Broker-Advisors are shown on the marketing website and are displayed on the application website allowing Hedgers who need advice to make direct contact.

There are three categories of Broker-Advisors:

Global Broker-Advisors: these have access to the underlying weather data for all transactions that can be sent through weatherXchange and are experienced in a wide range of index-based weather hedging structures. Global Broker-Advisors are appropriately regulated and able to advise fully on weather hedging in multiple locations worldwide.

Secondary Market Brokers-Advisors: these have access to historical data and pricing tools for the Speedwell-Market sites which relate to energy market trading. They may advise and offer anonymity in working on behalf of protection buyers. Click here for more information on Speedwell-Market sites.

Specialist Broker-Advisors: these offer in-depth industry-specific experience of using index-based weather hedging generally with a regional focus. Typical industry sectors might be agri-business / farming or construction.

Execution-Only Brokers

Execution-Only Brokers are brokers using the weatherXchange platform to service their existing index-based weather risk business. They are not visible to new Hedgers on the weatherXchange website.
